Here at City Rev, we believe that regular Bible reading is the most transformative spiritual practice in someone’s life. As you read the Bible, you are creating space in your life for God to speak to you and change you. We are deeply committed to helping equip people to regularly engage with God’s Word and create their very own Word Habit.

What is Word Habit?

Word Habit is a simple Bible reading plan with one chapter a day, five days a week, that’s it!

What you’ll need:

It’s simple- you’ll need a quiet place, a Bible, a journal, a pen, and at least 15 minutes! 

Cool… but how do I do it?

After reading our daily chapter, we use the SOAP method to break down what we’ve read.

The SOAP method of Bible reading is a simple, proven method of Scripture reading that helps you not only read the Bible, but understand it and apply it to your life.

SOAP Method:

  • Scripture

    Slowly read through a section or chapter of the Bible. In your journal, write out a key verse or a summary of what you read. 

  • Observe

    Jot down in your journal a few thoughts that stuck out to you. What did this teach you about Jesus? How does this challenge the way you think or live? 

  • Application

    What are you going to do in light of what the Bible says? Is there a way you are going to live or think differently? Is there an action step to take? 

  • Prayer

    What are you going to do in light of what the Bible says? Is there a way you are going to live or think differently? Is there an action step to take?
